Vijay Suffers Minor Fall Amid Crowd at Chennai Airport After Malaysia Visit

TVK president and popular actor Vijay experienced a brief scare at Chennai Airport on Sunday after he stumbled while making his way to his car amid a heavy crowd of supporters.

Vijay had just returned from Malaysia, where he attended the audio launch of his upcoming film Jana Nayagan, believed to be his final appearance on the big screen. As he exited the airport and approached his vehicle, the surge of fans around him caused him to lose balance and fall moments before entering the car.

Security officials reacted immediately, helping the actor-politician back to his feet and escorting him safely into the vehicle. No injuries were reported.

The incident occurred shortly after Vijay landed in Chennai late Sunday night following his participation in the grand audio release event in Kuala Lumpur.

At the event, Vijay made an emotional announcement, declaring his decision to step away from cinema to focus on standing up for his fans, whom he credited for building a symbolic “kottai” or fort around him — a Tamil metaphor for strength and unwavering support.

“When I entered films, I believed I was building a small sand house. But you turned it into a palace. My fans built me a fort, and for them, I am giving up cinema itself,” Vijay said during his speech.

The audio launch, held on December 27 at Bukit Jalil Stadium, witnessed an unprecedented turnout of nearly one lakh fans, earning a place in the Malaysian Book of Records for the largest audience at an audio launch event. Malaysia hosts the world’s largest Tamil diaspora outside Sri Lanka, underscoring Vijay’s global appeal.
